Love believes the best....

Love believes the best....and this I choose to do. The list that was easiest was the list of negatives. It is no surprise to me that my thoughts have been pulled into a whirlpool of negativity, since I have neglected them. The characteristic I chose was generosity...and he provided the perfect opportunity for me to tell him. We found out our Aunt Joan was in the hospital, she was not able to swallow. As soon as I told him he asked if we should go to Greenville--2 hours a way. He was willing to do this after putting in a full day at work--and pay for it--so I thanked him for his generosity. Now...granted...I am the only one with a license to drive, so I would be pulling the weight of it. AND I had been at work the whole day as well, and had to go in to work the next day. He has the rest of the year off work. But even so...that was my first thought as well. Complimenting him on his positive traits should come easy...but they don't.

Last night was an example of his industriousness--we had a bad storm pass through and the roof began leaking in the back bedroom. He woke me up and we went to borrow a tarp, ladders, etc. so he could climb up on the roof in the rain and dark and put the tarp over it. This was after he went outside and stood in the rain to clean out the French drains so our front room wouldn't flood. When he woke me up I was beside are going to do what?!! He has seizures and stays far away from ladders...not to mention a roof!! Sigh. It will take time for my thoughts to be changed--I will apply Philippians 4:8 EVERY day until that happens!

  • That is a great sacrifice on your part. The kind that every Christian should strive for.

I don't know why it is so hard for us to compliment others, especially our spouses, but it seems to be something that does not come natural. Work on it and practice it everyday. Use it and make it a habit. Everyone loves to be praised. It's a win/win situation.

Awesome that he took care of the leak. Give him praise for that.

"And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."

    Philippians 4:8

  • Enjoy the kindness he showed and let God know you enjoy Him so much more.
