How blessed is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding.

Today's Dare

Prepare a special dinner at home, just for the two of you.  The dinner can be as nice as you prefer.  Focus this time on getting to know your spouse better, perhaps in areas you've rarely talked about.  Determine to make it an enjoyable evening for you and your mate.

Throughout the day I prayed on a few things, but particularly the dare. Hubby and I never get to eat alone. The kids and my mom is always with us. I make dinner every night, but I tried to make something my husband would really like. When he goes for seconds I know I succeeded and so he did!

I knew from early in the morning that we would not be able to discuss a whole lot of things at dinner time, so after praying about it a lot, I got, “Be Still” and listen. So I did.

Hubby and I did not have much contact during the day, because he is still driving his boss around to meetings etc, for the wholesale, but the contact we did have, hubby mentioned, that the boss was here for a week and he only had one appointment booked. Hubby expressed how he would like for them to be able to see a lot more people during this week to try and get the wholesale side of the business of the ground. That was it!

I had worked in the furniture business for almost 10 years before I started with this mining company in January and I had a lot of contacts. Directors that resigned and started their own furniture companies etc. So I quickly went onto Facebook and also checked my phone, and got together about 10 companies that they could contact for appointments. I Skype’d all the info to hubby and when he came online he said “thanks so much love, great info”.

So I was able to listen and recognise what my husband needed and then take action to provide him with the tools to achieve what he longed to do. It felt so rewarding. So now, even when we do not have time to talk alone, I will pray on it daily that God will open my eyes and ears to recognise small or big things in my husband’s life that I can help with.

Scripture for the day:

Psalm 18

 31 The Lord alone is God;
      God alone is our defense.

32 He is the God who makes me strong,
      who makes my pathway safe.

33 He makes me sure-footed as a deer;
      he keeps me safe on the mountains.

34 He trains me for battle,
      so that I can use the strongest bow.

This scripture made me think about a lot of friends here on the love dare who is going through a struggle at the moment with a lot of “why’s”…. verse 34 sums it up. He trains us for Battle, so that we can use the strongest bow. I will save this verse in my heart, because the challenges will come and then I need to remember, instead of asking why, God is training me for battle!

  • Thank you Peaches! That is a great reminder that He is always training us and we will have the strongest bow to use in our battles. Love it!

  • Praise God for your intuition to make your hubby his favorite food and also for helping him with his job. Thank you so much for sharing those verses. I especially liked the last one about his training us for battle so we will use the best bow.  Makes me think about how we have to face and go through these challenges so we can grow in our faith and grow closer to God.

  • God is training you to be a testimony through those battles!
