Day 48: Love is Not Jealous

  • Comments 4

Love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire.

—Song of Solomon 8:6 NIV

Today's Dare

Determine to become your spouse's biggest fan and to reject any thoughts of jealousy.  To help you set your heart on your spouse and focus on their achievements, take yesterday's list of negative attributes and discreetly burn it.  Then share with your spouse how glad you are about a success he or she recently enjoyed.

Getting rid of the negative list was almost empowering. Keeping the focus on the good stuff. Praise God for how easy it can be. After our daughter’s therapy, the kids and I visited with a friend of mine for a bit. Her Grandchildren were all there, so my kids again, loved the attention and the playing. Hubby worked, and we didn’t really see each other till later this afternoon. It is one of the colder weekends so I made him “melkos”. A proudly South African dish! LOL it is like a very sweet porridge, and hubby has a bit of a sweet tooth! He was hungry when he got home, and he was very pleased about the melkos. We stayed in and tried to keep warm.

Later the evening, while he went for a second helping of melkos, I completed today’s dare about how glad and proud I was for the way he stood up to his boss earlier this week and that I hope that his boss keeps his word by looking into the things they discussed. He smiled and I could see he got all fuzzy inside. The rest of the evening after the kids were in bed, was pretty nice. We cuddled together on the couch and caught up on the things he wanted to watch.

When we finally went to bed it was pretty late, but thank God we took up our Bibles and did our prayer and devotion time.

My Scripture:

1 Timothy 6

6 Well, religion does make us very rich, if we are satisfied with what we have.7 What did we bring into the world? Nothing! What can we take out of the world? Nothing!8 So then, if we have food and clothes, that should be enough for us.9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and are caught in the trap of many foolish and harmful desires, which pull them down to ruin and destruction.10 For the love of money is a source of all kinds of evil. Some have been so eager to have it that they have wandered away from the faith and have broken their hearts with many sorrows.

It was great to see how rich I really am. I feel the need to share what I have. Praise God for the wonders He does!

  • The walk with Him shows how very little of this world is needed for happiness.  It is divine. It is simple.  We make it complex with "want."

  • The walk of the world is a false hope. It is amazing how I chased happiness and yet when I achieved what I thought was happiness, I was yet still so empty. But Christ changed all that when I found Him!

  • Loved your verse today.  To not have to have the worries of the world takes so much off your shoulders.  To be able to love others (especially your husband) when it seems like there is so much going on around you shows your strength through Christ.

  • Praise God you made your hubby a favorite dish and you were able to complete the dare. It's amazing what we can accomplish when we come and share Gods love.
