Day 21 - "At Last I See The Light"

  • Comments 2

I had prayed really hard about this one only because I did not know where to start: Psalms, Proverbs, or John? I had a dream about saying that I chose the book of John and all day during work, I felt like I needed to read the book of John. I finally sat down to read the first chapter and I come to the devotional that was cleverly titled "Light Keepers". Since dare 19, I had been wanting to fully immerse myself and be a light or a reflection of God's love, I just did not have the words to describe what I was feeling. I wanted to shine the way my aunt does whenever you are near her. She is happy regardless of her circumstances and always gives with a big heart. Her love is unconditional, she will never judge you, and being around her, her joy is just contagious. I wanted what she had and after reading the chapter and the devotional, it was right there in front of me. She was a light for God. There was a small passage that explained it beautifully:

"Have you ever watched the sun reflecting off prisms hanging from a crystal chandelier? The prisms themselves are not the light; they merely reflect the light produced by the chandelier. Yet they are capable of throwing hundreds of sparkling rainbows throughout a room. In his book Desiring God, John Piper Wrote:

'We were made to be prisms refracting the light of God's glory into all of life. Why God should want to give us a share in sining with his glory -- shekinah -- is a great mystery. Call it grace or mercy or love -- it is an unspeakable wonder!'"

I loved it! I'm so excited to continue reading and seeing what else God wants to tell me.

  • Give Him thanksgiving in all of this.  And in prayer, leave a little  quiet time where He can speak to you.

  • Your happiness resides in Christ. It's so wonderful to see your excitement. Continue to read and learn. God will tell you such amazing things.

Your aunt sounds like a fantastic role model. Thank God for her.

"Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"

    Psalm 46:10
