Love is Selfless

Today has been enlightening. It finally sunk in that by sending him messages, I wasn't being patient. I've always had a hard time with "let go and let God" even when I know without a doubt that He is the only way and that His timing is perfect. I realized that I have not been loving him selflessly. I understand that it isn't going to be easy, but I'm thankful for God's unending perfect love and all that He is revealing to me. Thank you to all who have responded to my posts, it means a lot, and it is very encouraging. God bless!

  • Yes, sending messages is being impatient with God's work and timing and also impatient with your spouse not giving you what you want right now.  But keep in mind to go to God for all your comfort, not hoping to find comfort in getting a response from a message sent to him.

Remember, a dare a day no more, no less.  Those extra messages are more than a dare a day.  And get in his space and push him back.

  • Patience is key. My worst attribute before The Love Dare was by far patience. I just told my therapist yesterday that waiting in the lobby for him used to kill me. Now I rejoice for the time to pray and talk to God. Learn to be patient. Don't text, call, email your spouse unless necessary. Right now, if they are angry and wanting to leave you, it's only going to add fuel to the fire. They will make up the most absurd reasons to be mad at you and it won't make a bit of sense.

You show love regardless of what he does. It will be humiliating at times but just imagine what Jesus did as he was taken from the garden of Gethsamane and crucified. He loved even those that were scourging him and asked God to forgive them for they knew not what they were doing. Right now our spouses have no idea what they are doing. This journey is not easy but you will grow closer to Christ no matter how it turns out.

"So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her."

    Genesis 26:20
