The Word of God…Proverbs 2

1Blessed is the mana
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2but his delight is in the lawb of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

3He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
4The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

5Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
6for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

This passage is a great passage for us. Verses 1+2 show us what a God seeker looks does, 3 what he looks like and how he is blessed, and 4-6 the opposite.

Verse 1: there are 3 stages Walking, Standing, and Sitting. We see the degradation of the wicked, and the strength of the blessed man.

Verse 2: shows where the blessed mans strength comes from ”Delight in the Law of the Lord on witch he meditates day and night”

Verse 3: his description is of a tree planted by running water

Jeremiah 55 says

1“Come, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and he who has no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.
2Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not satisfy?

The water is the Word of God, the Blessed man will be planted were the word is close enough thrive by it.

Now skip down to verse 16:

16So you will be delivered from the forbidden woman,
from the adulteress with her smooth words,

We can overcome all sin by the word, by loving it and meditating on it till we love to obey it. Anything that keeps you from being all that you can be in Christ is sin, lets strive to be the blessed of God, then we can love out of a pure heart.

  • I still have a hard time spending time in the Word.  But, it is slowly taking a hold.  Thanks for the reminder of the Word's importance.

  • I struggle to read it and make sense of it.

    I worry that I will make it something that it is not in my own head.
