Round 4 – Day 16 – Love Intercedes
“Begin praying today for your spouse's heart. Pray for three specific areas where you desire for God to work in your spouse's life and in your marriage.”
The good thing about a really bad day is that the next day can only be better and He always gives renewed strength. I woke up feeling like a freight train hit me, but believe it or not had a feeling of love for my husband. You know that is only made possible by one Man. Christ rocks like that!
I prayed often throughout the day for what three specific areas He wanted me to focus on for today’s dare. During my break at work, He led me to two of the areas. The other one I continued to listen for.
When I got home I started pulling stuff out for dinner. My husband came downstairs to let me know if I was getting ready to make dinner that he was not hungry. Alright, dinner for one it is. He then kindly asked me how my day went. I answered and back upstairs he went. That is what our communication consisted of today. I did not feel led to take it any further than that.
I took some more time to listen for that third area of prayer for my husband and He answered. What He pressed on me today—
His Walk –
I pray for Christ to direct my husband’s steps—to lead him to His light. Teach him His way, so he will walk in His truth
His Faith—
I pray for faith to rise in my husband’s heart—to increase his ability to believe in Him, His Word, promises, ways, and His power. I pray for a longing to be put in his hear t to talk with Him and hear His voice. May he seek Him, rely totally upon Him, be led by Him, to put Him first, and to acknowledge Him in everything he does. I pray for my husband to live the faith-filled life He has called us all to experience.
His Talk—
I pray the Holy Spirit would guard my husband’s mouth so that he will speak only words that edify and bring life. Help him to not be a complainer, a user of foul language, or one who destroys with his words. I pray for him to be filled with His love so that out of the overflow of his heart will come words that build up and not tear down (work that in my heart as well).
Our Marriage—
I pray for spiritual intimacy and protection. That we always keep Christ first in our marriage, for God to unify us with Him and each other, protection from distractions that could interfere with us seeking God, protection against temptations that could destroy our marriage, discernment, and quick forgiveness.
My personal prayer (this was shared with me today by my mentor)—
I Timothy 1:17-19
17 All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; He alone is God. Amen. Jenn’s Responsibility: 18 [Jenn, my daughter], here are my instructions for you, based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier. May they help you fight well in the Lord’s battles. 19Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.
His final reminder for me today—
Battles are won in His strength, not ours. Wisdom comes from above not within. His power is perfected in our weakness. We are simply vessels. Without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). All things that are accomplished for God—whether salvation itself or the life that follows—are accomplished by His initiative and power through our dependence and faith.
Glad that you are feeling love for you husband today. That is definitely Christ's handy work! Love your final reminder. Keep seeking HIM.
Christ is preparing you. Your testimony to your husband is critical. Christ brought you here first for a reason. Seek out His wisdom and grace, because when He works it for your husband to be humbled you are the first one that will be there.
WOW what a great posting! Thank you for sharing that. I especially like the prayers. Praise GOD he gave you strength and peace for your day!
