I can thank a good friend for this reflection.
I have been taking these dares to become a better Christian, and husband and father. These are who I am, who I am called to be. But where I fail in this in our current relationship is that I still do not discern well between what a normal husband would do and what a husband who is 'fighting' an affair. Doing things to draw close to her can appear to be manipulative.
To love her like Christ is to be her husband. For me to do anything else would be false, but I need everyday to reflect on my choices, and ask is that what Jesus would do as a husband, or is this what I am doing because I am reacting to the affair, reacting to her running away from our marriage.
Thank you God, for giving me the opportunity to love my wife unconditionally. Thank you God for opening my eyes to your what your love means, Thank you for sending your Son to teach us how to love one another.
1 Corinthians 6
The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? 8 Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters. 9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Daniloff. Thank you so much for sharing your struggles and insights on your journey. They speak to me a lot because I feel many of the same things you do. I am trying to focus all my energy and love on GOD and how he would want me to act and speak and treat and love my husband. We have no guarantees that our spouse will not continue their affair or have another affair BUT the good news is we can relish in the fact that no matter what GOD loves us and will give us all we need to get through it and come out a better person. I truly believe that. I pray GOD gives you strength and peace during these times.
