I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness. Then you will know the Lord.—Hosea 2:20

Love is a choice, not a feeling. It is an initiated action, not a knee-jerk reaction. Choose today to be committed to love even if your spouse has lost most of their interest in receiving it. Say to them today in words similar to these, “I love you. Period. I choose to love you even if you don’t love me in return.”

--As Christians we are to live our lives separated from the world, shown by our love for each other.  As John 13:35 talks about, this is how people will know we are Christ’s followers.  When I encounter MB, I am reminded of this commandment especially more so when the one I love so dearly does not love me in return.  Despite her lack of interest in me, I love her regardless.  Just like in the story of Hosea, he loved the one God chose for him to marry, and even after she was unfaithful to Hosea, God commanded Hosea to love her even more. “Love her as the Lord loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods.”  I did not always let MB know that I loved her, but I loved her.  It took MB being unfaithful to me for God to teach me to love her even more and in a deeper way. The Israelites on numerous occasions followed other gods, idols that they had made. But God remained faithful to them. He remains faithful to us, even when we turn away from Him in sin, and follow our own “idols” that we have make.  Just as God has modeled for us, I choose to remain faithful and love MB. Period.

I am thankful to our God for: another warm day (70+ degrees); working with such nice people; and being with other great men and sharpening each other’s iron this morning before work.
