Day 212: Love lets the other win

Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.—Philippians 2:4

TODAY’S DARE Demonstrate love by willingly choosing to give in to an area of disagreement between you and your spouse. Tell them you are putting their preference first.

--Today I had to think hard for an area of disagreement that I should give into.  But it seems that everything that I could think of that we are currently in disagreement with, I should continue to fight for (everything associated with her wanting to split up the marriage).  Anything that is NOT worth fighting for, I believe is behind us for now.

Just continuing in prayer: Dear Father God, thank you for making me and Mary Beth different. I understand that we are not copies of each other, we won’t agree to anything and everything; but rather our differences complement each other – by Your design. Thank you! Father God help reveal to me what Mary Beth should “win” when we disagree. Father God give me the strength, maturity, humility, and the best evidence of selfless love to be able to “give-in” when You want me to.  On the other hand Father God, make me into a fighter. The kind of fighter that wages war against anything and everything that would oppose my union with Mary Beth. A fighter that would learn the strategies of the enemy so that I may be better prepared to combat his schemes. Make me a fighter for Your Kingdom, Your Word, and our covenant.  Make me a warrior for my wife Mary Beth and open my eyes to the times when “I” am the enemy that needs cutting down. Teach me, Father God!  I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

I am thankful to our God for: Hearing the government shutdown is over and being able to start work again this Monday; meeting with my counselor this morning; and finishing the laundry.
