Day 211: Love cherishes

Husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies.—Ephesians 5:28

TODAY’S DARE What need does your spouse have that you could meet today? Can you run an errand? Give a back rub or foot massage? Is there housework you could help with? Choose a gesture that says, “I cherish you” and do it with a smile.

--Another quiet day today.  I dropped the kids off at school this morning. I did not have any contact with MB today.

Just a prayer for today: Dear Father God, thank you for giving me the chance to love and cherish my wife.  Father God, help me understand the needs of Mary Beth.  Help me to be sensitive to the words Mary Beth says to me.  Please show me if at any time she has expressed a need to me and I have not given the proper attention to the need.  Father God, help me today to look back at things Mary Beth has stated and help me to hear what I may have missed before.  Help me to not be distracted by the busyness of my day that I cannot hear her, help her, or change something for her.  Also Father God, I pray that Mary Beth will never try to follow a need of her own making that You will not bless.  Father God, help Mary Beth to surrender her plans so that You can reveal Your plan to her. Father God, I pray that you would bring me and Mary Beth to a new place of unity with one another where I can love and cherish her as the man, husband, and spiritual leader that You want me to be.  In Jesus’s name I pray, amen.

I am thankful to our God for: exchanging I love you text messages with Bella this evening while she is out with her friends; hugging the kids this morning before school; and having some leftover food to eat today.
