Day 200: Love is a covenant

Where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.—Ruth 1:16

Write out a renewal of your vows and place them in your home. Perhaps, if appropriate, you could make arrangements to formally renew your wedding vows before a minister and with family present. Make it a living testament to the value of marriage in God’s eyes and the high honor of being one with your mate.

--Today was a quiet day.  MB texted me early today to ask me if I have seen Bella’s pants.  MB is missing two pairs of Bella’s pants and wanted me to look for them.  I responded saying I only have the two pairs that I have always had (purchased), not sure where the other two are, but will look for them...

Today, I am reminded about covenants from a group that I meet with online called “Covenant Standers,” it is a great group of people that are always loving and encouraging one another.   Similar to God’s covenant with Noah. He promised to never again flood the entire earth in the destruction of mankind.  Another covenant God made was with Abraham when He promised an entire nation of descendants to come from him. There are many examples of God’s everlasting covenants with His people.

In order to keep our covenant in our marriage, we need the help of the Holy Spirit living within us. We are only able to extend mercy and forgiveness through the help of the Holy Spirit. I am able to keep myself pure and devoted to MB by His holiness in me.  And I am only able to continuously love MB by the grace of God especially when no love is being returned.

I have been challenged to extend love in ways that are not possible on my own. Turning to God in prayer for help has been my lifeline to change my heart to be in line with His will.  I know I can’t change MB, only myself. I pray for God’s help daily to be more loving, more forgiving, more giving, more of a peacemaker, and a stronger relationship with Him.  I truly believe that as He changes me, He will be at work with MB as well.  Everything is continuing to tell me…to STAND (I was reminded again tonight!).  God is trusting me to continue standing for our covenant, not MB; that is BIG honor and I don’t want to let Him down.

Prayer request, please:  For the government shutdown to end…I need to get back to work.

I am thankful to our God for: a great Q&A session with the “Better Together Movement” this evening; a sunny day; and a warm house.
