Day 148: Love makes sacrifices

He laid down His life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers.—1 John 3:16 HCSB

What is one of the greatest needs in your spouse’s life right now? Is there a need you could lift from their shoulders today by a daring act of sacrifice on your part? Whether the need is big or small, purpose to do what you can to meet the need.

--Love requires us to be sensitive to our spouse’s needs, sometimes before they share any needs with us. We should be tuned in to what is going on with their job, extended family, daily struggles, or personal health issues. Always be available to listen when they express concerns, being sure to follow-up on how they are doing.  We should show compassion instead of annoyance when words of frustration are expressed concerning a problem they are experiencing.  Often all that is really needed is a listening ear and a heart of compassion. I may not be able to solve their problem, but I can show my support with encouraging words or offer to pray with them over any situation they are worried about. With MB “out of town” today, there was not really anything I could do other than to remind myself of the sacrifices love requires of me.  I look forward to making these types of sacrifices again with MB someday.

  • Like they said in Fire Proof "Study your wife" knowing her intimate details and remembering the things that she said, taking care of the little things so she doesn't have to worry about them. This all falls under the same heading.

Keep strong and be still....I know the weight of waiting

  • Yes, will do, thank you Josh!
