Day 8: Love is not jealous

Love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire.

—Song of Solomon 8:6 NIV

TODAY’S DARE

Determine to become your spouse’s biggest fan and to reject any thoughts of jealousy. To help you set your heart on your spouse and focus on their achievements, take yesterday’s list of negative attributes and discreetly burn it. Then share with your spouse how glad you are about a success he or she recently enjoyed.

I tried calling her two times today, but she was not picking up, but did not want to leave a voice message, so I sent her the following text message:

“…loved hearing the stories the kids shared with me over the weekend regarding their trip to the beach with you.  It was pretty admirable for you to take them on such an adventure - awesome job!”

Did not expect to get a response, but she did not respond.

  • If you knew you were not going to see her, then yes, call to do the dare.  If she doesn't answer, I would still say leave a voice mail and not even call the second time.  Often our spouses see that we called twice and they sit there just rolling their eyes, like why on earth do they keep calling.  And plus it is just getting in there space with the extra calls and texts.  One call vs two calls plus a text.

Your voice can also carry inflection and a positive greeting whereby a text is often misconstrued and taken wrongly.

Also, we often text vs talk because it is less scary.
