Day 6: Love is not irritable

He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit, than he who captures a city.

—Proverbs 16:32

Choose today to react to tough circumstances in your marriage in loving ways instead of with irritation. Begin by making a list below of areas where you need to add margin to your schedule. Then list any wrong motivations that you need to release from your life.

— Today MB sent me a text message scolding me for not letting her know about our son's ear-ache the other day. Understandably, she was mad at me.  It was my mistake. She was not very nice about it.  It was a very deflating.

I choose to react to the tough circumstance in loving way instead of with irritation.  I quickly responded admitting to my mistake and apologizing to MB.  I followed up again this evening apologizing again.  I did not get irritated or defensive towards her.

  • Great job. If you can own up to your mistakes it will not only help you with her, but with every relationship you ever have. Humility is so important. There is not much else more Jesus-like. Keep it up and don't neglect your Bible. Keep your mind always focused on Christ because the devil has his sights on you and one little slip up and he will pounce on you.
