    Day 70—Love still Brings Unity

“Isolate one area of division in your marriage, and look on today as a fresh opportunity to pray about it.  Ask the Lord to reveal anything in your own heart that is threatening oneness with your spouse.  Pray that He would do the same for them.  And if appropriate, discuss this matter openly, seeking God for unity.”

Unfortunately we are currently divided in all areas—physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. The area I chose to isolate my thoughts and prayers on today was spirituality. After these past couple of weeks of sporadic contact with my husband—this is still definitely the biggest divider out of all of them. The others will fall into place in God’s time just as this will, but I know God has had His work cut out for him with this one. I spent the day by myself, which was probably a good thing because I was battling a lot of emotions. I talked with God a lot. I prayed for renewed strength and patience. I prayed for my husband’s heart—for him to let go of control, swallow his pride, and for him to abandon himself to Christ. I do not know the reasoning behind his choice of needing more space again, but I believe he is experiencing serious spiritual warfare and for whatever reason he just still does not want to give in.

My favorite excerpt of this chapter—“The unity of the Trinity, as seen from beyond the reaches of history past and continuing into the future, is evidence of the power of oneness. It is unbreakable. It is unending. Oneness is the external tread that runs through the daily experience of what you call ‘your marriage,’ giving it a purpose to be defended for life.”

  • Of course he is in a spiritual battle. Christ chose you to go on this journey first for a reason. And your husbands actions have showed you why. He just was not willing to be open to it. So it is now your responsability to be the testimony for Christ.
