Day 22—Love is Faithful
“Love is a choice, not a feeling. It is an initiated action, not a knee-jerk reaction. Choose today to be committed to love even if your spouse has lost most of their interest in receiving it. Say to them today in words similar to there, "I love you. Period. I choose to love you even if you don't love me in return."
I used to have a difficult time accepting that love is a choice, not a feeling. I always felt it wasn’t a choice - it was whatever your heart felt. Well, what my heart felt is exactly what got me to where I am today—the hardest journey of my life. I can now say I stand by the truth that love is definitely a choice. God gives undeserved love to us—repeatedly and enduringly. Love is often expressed the most to those who deserve it the least, so every day I pray for Him to fill me with the kind of love only He can provide to then turnaround and give it to my husband who has absolutely no interest in receiving it.
I did not have the opportunity to tell my husband face to face that I love him—that I choose to love him even if he doesn’t in return. I could have done it via text, but did not feel that is how God wanted me to do it. I feel an opportunity will present itself in the very near future to express this.
Infatuation is a feeling and usually it is you following your heart while being decieved!
