Today I watched the movie Fireproof and realized how religion based this whole concept of the love dare truly was going to be. My best friend gave me the book and the movie a an effort to help me save my marriage. I'm not a religions person, basically very similar to the main character in the movie but I'm hoping that I can find Christ through this book. I found the movie very touching and cried for about the last 1/2 an hour thinking about my own marriage and if this book is something that can truly help bring love back into our hearts.
Today for day 2, I made my husband breakfast and lunch and he just kept saying "you know you don't have to do this but thank you." It makes me happy to know that he noticed what I did.
This is not a "religion" based thing. It is a personal walk with Christ. But not religion based.
You are on a journey with Christ now. And you will have to think back, but you are the one that initiated it.
At some point you called on Christ to come into your life. It may have been a bad time in your marriage, and it may have been as simple as "God help me". But I assure you at some point you called on Him. And He has answered.
This journey is one that will change your life. take some time to read the appendix, very important in this journey.
It is important at this point to realize that God has been for your marriage from the very beginning. Your marriage is His doing. He brought you together and He desires that no one, including yourselves undo what He has done. Sean is right. Please don't see this as a religion thing. Religion is about rules and regulations that always leave us feeling inadequate and joyless. Christ is the ultimate prize of the human experience. When we find that He has been pursuing us our whole lives and we turn toward His love and acceptance that is when we can begin to make sense of this life. Your marriage is God's doing and ultimately it is for His glory. These dares will teach you how to love as Christ loves and to display the goodness of God through the way you love and care for your spouse. God Bless.
