    Day 54—Love still Takes Delight

“Purposefully neglect an activity you would normally do so you can spend quality time with your spouse.  Do something he or she would love to do or a project they'd really like to work on.  Just be together.”

I’ve thought a lot about this dare beyond just today. I’ve thought about the future with my husband and what we would do together to spend quality time with each other since that was extremely lacking before he moved out. I have already given up some things that used up a lot of time and I believe it was God doing that work in me. He shut those desires off—TV, internet, soccer. I do not spend nearly as much time as I used to watching TV or on the internet and I chose to quit playing soccer this last season for a new team I was invite d to play on, so I could focus on my marriage. I do not see myself going back to play either. I would rather do something my husband and I enjoy together. He hates soccer. He loves bike riding though, so I imagine us doing that together. I imagine us working in the yard together. I imagine us going on real dates together. In all honesty, I would do anything together with him at this point.

I take delight in any of our contact—phone calls, text messaging, and seeing each other. It is very minimal, but it has started to increase a bit more and more. I was completely taken aback by a conversation with my neighbor this evening, but it is those moments that I know the evil one is trying to destroy my trust in Christ. I realize that, so it makes me lean on Christ that much more. Thank God!

  • Your continued growth is important. Seek those ways out each day.  And your husband will grow as well with the desire to have what you do!
